Geçtiğimiz hafta Cuma günü Limasol’da başlayan Wolt kurye emekçilerinin grevi Lefkoşa’ya da yayıldı ve her iki şehirde yüzlerce emekçi direnişi büyütüyor. İyileştirilmiş, güvenceli çalışma koşulları ve ücret artışı talebiyle başlayan grev, filo şirketlerinin kurye emekçilerinin çalışma hesaplarını kapatmasıyla grev hakkının açıkça gasbına ve örgütlü mücadeleyi kırmaya yönelik bir saldırıya dönüşmüş durumdadır. Güvencesizliğe, taşeronlaştırmaya, örgütsüzleştirme politikalarına karşı direnişi yükselten emekçilerin haklı grevini selamlıyor, emekçinin partisi olarak dayanışmamızı bildiriyoruz.
Wolt kurye emekçileri 2024 yılında verdikleri mücadeleyle SEK, PEO ve DEOK sendikalarıyla çalışma bakanlığı arasında sektörel toplu iş sözleşmesi imzalanmasını sağlamış ve sektördeki emekçilerin hakları ilk kez resmi olarak düzenlenmişti. Fakat geçen sürede sözleşmeyle düzenlenen pek çok hakkın hayata geçmediğini, işverenin çalışma ve güvenlik maliyetlerini işçilere yüklemeye devam ettiğini görüyoruz. Ekipman maliyetlerinin emekçilerin ücretlerinden kesilmesi ve sosyal sigorta primlerinin eksik yapılması gibi sorunlar emekçilerin yaygın sorunları olarak devam ediyor. Bir de bunların yanına sipariş başına düşürülen ücretler, kilometre başına yetersiz ödeme, bekleme sürelerinin karşılıksız bırakılması ve tüm masrafların işçilerin sırtına yüklenmesi, emekçileri haklı bir isyana sürüklemiştir.
Bu örnekte olduğu gibi açıkça görülmektedir ki, sektörel toplu iş sözleşmesinin imzalanmış olması tek başına emekçilerin haklarını güvence altına almaya yetmemektedir. Kağıt üzerinde kazanılmış hakların fiilen korunması ve hayata geçirilebilmesi ancak emekçilerin örgütlü gücüyle mümkündür. Emekçilerle ve işyeri ile bağı kopmuş, bürokratik mekanizmaların içine sıkışmış bir sendikacılık anlayışı emek mücadelesinde aşılması gereken bir başka engeldir. Emekçiler kendi haklarını doğrudan savunabilecek örgütlülüğe sahip olmadan bu hakların uygulanması ise patronların keyfiyetine bırakılmaktadır. Bu nedenle sendikanın çalışma rejiminin organik bir parçası olması ve tabandan örgütlü mücadele, kazanılmış hakların gerçek anlamda yaşama geçirilmesinin vazgeçilmez koşuludur.
Wolt emekçilerine dayatılan güvencesizlik rejimi, örgütlenme ve grev hakkının cezalandırılması açık bir zulümdür. Çalışma hesaplarının kapatılması, baskı, tehdit ve yıldırma politikaları, işçilerin haklı mücadelesini bastırmaya yetmeyecektir. We Stand in Solidarity With The Wolt Couriers Who Are Fighting For Their Rights Against Systematic Exploitation and Escalating Their Strike!
The strike by Wolt couriers, which began last Friday in Limassol, has spread to Nicosia, with hundreds of workers in both cities stepping up their resistance. The strike, which began with demands for improved, secure working conditions and a pay rise, has now turned into an attack aimed at blatantly violating the right to strike and breaking organised resistance, following the fleet companies’ closure of the couriers’ work accounts. We salute the just strike of the workers who are raising their resistance against precariousness, subcontracting and de-unionisation policies, and as the workers’ party, we declare our solidarity.
Through their struggle in 2024, Wolt courier workers secured the signing of a sectoral collective agreement between the SEK, PEO and DEOK trade unions and the Ministry of Labour, marking the first time workers’ rights in the sector had been officially regulated. However, we observe that many of the rights established by the agreement have not been implemented, and that employers continue to shift the costs of working conditions and safety onto workers. Issues such as the deduction of equipment costs from workers’ wages and the underpayment of social insurance contributions remain widespread problems for workers. Added to these are reduced wages per order, inadequate payment per kilometre, unpaid waiting times, and the burdening of all expenses onto the workers’ shoulders, which have driven workers to a justified uprising.
As is clearly evident in this example, the mere signing of a sectoral collective agreement is not sufficient in itself to safeguard workers’ rights. The effective protection and implementation of rights secured on paper is only possible through the organised power of workers. A trade unionism that has severed its ties with workers and the workplace, and become trapped within bureaucratic mechanisms, is yet another obstacle that must be overcome in the workers’ struggle. Without the organisation to defend their rights directly, the implementation of these rights is left to the whims of the employers. For this reason, the union must be an integral part of the working regime, and organised struggle from the grassroots is an indispensable condition for the genuine realisation of these rights.
The regime of insecurity imposed on Wolt workers, and the punishment of the right to organise and strike, is a clear act of oppression. The closure of work accounts, along with policies of pressure, threats and intimidation, will not suffice to suppress the workers’ just struggle. As the Path to Independence, we stand with the workers who are waging a struggle for rights against systematic exploitation and expanding the strike.
